  • Which faucet fits my bathroom?

A shower fitting ensures that you get warm and cold water in the desired mix while showering. You can use a single-lever mixer or – for extra comfort – a shower fitting with a thermostat, which always delivers water at the preset temperature.

What are the different types of installation?

If you want to replace an existing shower mixer, a surface-mounted mixer is a good option, as it can be installed without additional construction work. More elegant, but more demanding to install, are built-in mixers, where only the connections protrude from the wall.

Surface-mounted mixer

Surface-mounted mixers are mounted on the wall and connected to the pipes running inside it. All elements of the mixer are therefore visible. The advantage is that such a shower mixer is particularly easy and quick to install.

Built-in mixer

Built-in mixers are installed inside the shower wall and then covered with tiles or a partition. This gives you more space in the shower cabin and makes cleaning easier, as only the connections for the hand and overhead shower as well as the taps or single-lever mixer are mounted on the wall.

What materials are suitable?

Shower mixers are usually made of brass and coated with a protective layer of chrome. This creates a shiny, smooth surface that is resistant to corrosion and dirt. However, the chrome coating can peel over time, which affects the appearance but not the durability of the mixer.

Shower mixers made of stainless steel are better and of higher quality. They offer a particularly elegant and high-end look, are easy to clean and disinfect, and are resistant to impacts or other mechanical stress. In addition, stainless steel retains a special shine over the years, so the higher purchase price is offset by the longer service life.

Which shower tap fits my bathroom?

This question is difficult to answer concretely from a distance. In general, when choosing a new shower fitting, you should not only focus on appealing design, but also select a model that meets your functional expectations.

Design

When it comes to design, you have complete freedom: whether simple and timeless, with rounded or cubic shapes, shiny or matte surfaces. Anything that pleases you and matches your bathroom is allowed.

Functionality

In addition to basic models, there are also options with extra comfort features such as a built-in thermostat. The rule here is: choose a model that meets your current and future needs and offers practical features. For example, shower fittings with a shelf, keeping shampoo and other shower items always within reach, ensuring order and clarity.

Conclusion

When choosing a new shower fitting, make sure it operates quietly and smoothly and gives a high-quality, durable impression. Don’t base your decision solely on design; choose a model that perfectly matches your bathroom, your habits, and the structural conditions – then you will enjoy your new shower fitting for a long time.
