What are the different types of installation?
If you want to replace an existing shower mixer, a surface-mounted mixer is a good option, as it can be installed without additional construction work. More elegant, but more demanding to install, are built-in mixers, where only the connections protrude from the wall.

Surface-mounted mixer
Surface-mounted mixers are mounted on the wall and connected to the pipes running inside it. All elements of the mixer are therefore visible. The advantage is that such a shower mixer is particularly easy and quick to install.

Built-in mixer
Built-in mixers are installed inside the shower wall and then covered with tiles or a partition. This gives you more space in the shower cabin and makes cleaning easier, as only the connections for the hand and overhead shower as well as the taps or single-lever mixer are mounted on the wall.
What materials are suitable?
Shower mixers are usually made of brass and coated with a protective layer of chrome. This creates a shiny, smooth surface that is resistant to corrosion and dirt. However, the chrome coating can peel over time, which affects the appearance but not the durability of the mixer.
Shower mixers made of stainless steel are better and of higher quality. They offer a particularly elegant and high-end look, are easy to clean and disinfect, and are resistant to impacts or other mechanical stress. In addition, stainless steel retains a special shine over the years, so the higher purchase price is offset by the longer service life.
